Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection

Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent that is compatible with the rubber (1).
|
2.

Warning
|
Wear safety glasses when using compressed air, as flying dirt particles may cause eye injury.
|
|
|
|
|
Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.
|

|
Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following:
|
|
•
|
Worn or damaged hub-to-crankshaft surface (1)
|
|
•
|
Worn, grooved or damaged hub seal surface (2)
A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust, or other damage must be replaced.

•
|
Worn, chunking or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (3)
|
|
•
|
Damaged drive belt ribs (4)

|
Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer as necessary.
