Engine Front Cover Removal



1. Remove the 4 camshaft position sensor bolts (1).


2. Remove the 4 camshaft position sensors (2).

3. Remove the 4 camshaft position actuator valve bolts (1).

Note

The camshaft position actuator valves must be removed from the front cover prior to front cover removal or damage to the valves may occur.


Remove the 4 camshaft position actuator valves (2) from the front cover.

5. Remove the 20 engine front cover bolts.

Note

Do not pry between the engine front cover and the camshaft position sensors or the camshaft position actuators in order to separate the RTV. Use the pry points and a bolt in the jackscrew hole in order to remove the engine front cover. Damage to the camshaft position sensors or the camshaft position actuators may occur if the camshaft position sensors or the camshaft position actuators are used to pry against in order to remove the engine front cover.


Loosely install a 10 x 1.5 mm bolt in the jackscrew hole (1).


7. Using the pry points (2) located at the edge of the front cover and the jackscrew, separate the room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant.

8. Remove the engine front cover.
