When removing the coil spring, use the right tool to support and compress the coil spring before removing the suspension strut nut. Failure to do so could result in injury or component damage. The coil spring is under extreme pressure and can become a projectile should the spring separate from the strut before all of the tension is relieved.

Care should be taken to avoid chipping or cracking the spring coating when handling the front suspension coil spring. Failure to observe this notice may result in spring breakage.

Preliminary Procedure

Clamp strut assembly (9) in
CH-6066
holding device attached to a work bench.
|
3.
|
Compress the spring to remove the spring tension from the upper strut mount,
CH-6068
spring tensioning device .

4.
|
Inspect parts for damage and replace as necessary.

To prevent personal injury and/or component damage, use the proper tools to support the lower control arm when removing the coil spring. The coil spring is under extreme pressure and can become a projectile should the spring separate from the lower control arm before all of the tension is relieved.

Before removing the strut shaft nut, support the strut to prevent the strut from falling.
