Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing

Note
|
Drain and measure as much of the refrigerant oil as possible from the removed compressor.
|
Remove the compressor crankcase oil drain plug and drain the crankcase into a clean, graded container.
|
2.
|
Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into the same container.
Rotate the compressor shaft to assist in draining the compressor.
|
3.
|
Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor.
This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.

5.
|
Properly discard the used refrigerant oil.

The refrigerant oil in the A/C system must be balanced during compressor replacement.

Check the oil volume in the replacement compressor.
|
The replacement compressor is shipped partially filled with refrigerant oil. The amount of oil has to be balanced according to below.

Before installing the compressor, the refrigerant oil will have to be drained:
Drain the replacement compressor completely from oil as described above, Draining procedure - item 1 and 2, into a clean, graded container.

Add the same amount of oil into the new compressor as was drain and recorded from the replaced compressor + 20 ml. If no oil (or very little amount = equal or less than 10 ml) was drained from the replaced compressor, fill 50 ml of oil in the new compressor.
