Camshaft Replacement (Exhaust-LLU/A16LET)

Removal Procedure


1. Remove the camshaft position sensor - exhaust. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Exhaust .

2. Remove the camshaft bearing front cap. Refer to Camshaft Bearing Front Cap Replacement .

3. Remove the camshaft bearing cap fasteners (1) and the camshaft bearing caps (2) in sequence of the illustration.


4. Remove the exhaust camshaft (1).



Installation Procedure


1. Check the expanse of the valve lifter (1). If a valve lifter is damaged, change the valve lifter and adjust it. Insert the valve lifter with engine oil.


2. Install the exhaust camshaft. Use engine oil for installation.

3. Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the camshaft bearing cap fasteners (1) and the camshaft bearing caps (2) in sequence of the illustration and tighten the fasteners to 10 Nm (89 lb in) .


4. Install the camshaft position sensor - exhaust. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Exhaust .

5. Install the camshaft bearing front cap. Refer to Camshaft Bearing Front Cap Replacement .
