Intake Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement

Removal Procedure


1. Remove the timing chain guide - upper. Refer to Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Upper .

2. Remove the camshaft position actuator - exhaust. Refer to Camshaft Position Exhaust Actuator Replacement .

3. Remove the camshaft position actuator - intake. Refer to Camshaft Position Intake Actuator Replacement .

4. Remove the cylinder head opening plate. Refer to Cylinder Head Opening Plate Replacement .

5. Remove the fuel pump module. Refer to Fuel Pump Module Replacement .

6. Remove the 12 fasteners (1) from the camshaft bearing caps (2).


7. Remove with caution the camshaft bearing caps (2) from the cylinder head.

8. Remove the intake camshaft (1).


9. Remove the valve lifters (2).


Installation Procedure


1. Install the valve lifters (1).

Employ the valve lifters with a little bit oil


2. Install the intake camshaft (2).

Employ the camshaft with a little bit oil

3. Install the intake camshaft bearing caps (1) and camshaft bearing cap fasteners (2). Tighten the fasteners to 10 Nm (89 lb in) .


4. Install the cylinder head opening plate. Refer to Cylinder Head Opening Plate Replacement .

5. Install the fuel pump module. Refer to Fuel Pump Module Replacement .

6. Install the camshaft position actuator - intake. Refer to Camshaft Position Intake Actuator Replacement .

7. Install the camshaft position actuator - exhaust. Refer to Camshaft Position Exhaust Actuator Replacement .

8. Install the timing chain guide - upper. Refer to Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Upper .
