DTC P003A 00

Turbocharger Wastegate Solenoid Valve Control Performance

Circuit/System Description

The ECM varies the boost dependant upon the load requirements of the engine.

Conditions for Running the DTC


• The battery voltage is equal to or greater than 11 V.

• The engine speed is between 750-850 RPM.

• The engine coolant temperature (ECT) is between 73-96°C (163-205°F).

• DTC P003A runs once per key cycle when the above conditions are met.


Conditions for Setting the DTC


• The engine control module (ECM) determines that the difference between the desired boost pressure actuator and the actual boost pressure actuator exceed a calibrated threshold.

• The above condition is met.


Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P003A is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P003A is a Type C DTC.

Circuit/System Verification


1. A mechanical fault can cause the DTC

2. Check the following components for proper working

• Boost Pressure Actuator LPT

• Boost Pressure Actuator HPT

• Turbocharger

• Vacuum System

3. Verify the DTC does not reset.

4. If the DTC resets, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
