EN-904 Base Frame

Removal Procedure


1. Open hood.

Warning

Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.


Warning

Do not allow smoking or the use of open flames in the area where work on the fuel or EVAP system is taking place. Anytime work is being done on the fuel system, disconnect the negative battery cable, except for those tests where battery voltage is required.


Warning

The ignition must be in the off position and all electrical loads must be turned off before servicing any electrical component. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or damage to the vehicle.


Turn the ignition OFF.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

4. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .

5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

6. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .

7. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Exhaust System Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Exhaust System Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) Exhaust System Replacement (LHU/A20NFT - AWD, LAU/A28NER - AWD) .

8. Release the fuel tank filler pipe from the fuel tank. Refer to Filler Tube Replacement .

9. Disconnect the evaporative emission front pipe quick connector from the evaporative emission front pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .


10. Disconnect the fuel feed front pipe quick connector from the fuel feed front pipe (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

11. Position a suitable hydraulic lift with EN-904 base frame below the fuel tank.

12. Remove both fuel tank strap fasteners (1).


13. Remove both fuel tank straps from the fuel tank (2).

14. Take the fuel tank (1) to the propeller shaft (2).


15. Remove the EN-904 base frame from the hydraulic lift.

16. Position the hydraulic lift to the right side and lift up the fuel tank, until the left side below.

17. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge pipe (1) and the fuel tank vent pipe (2) from the evaporative emission canister (3).

Note

Insert and gently push a small flat-bladed tool between the EVAP canister vent solenoid and the retaining bracket.


Unlock and remove the evaporative emission canister (1) from the fuel tank (2).



Installation Procedure


1.
Note

The evaporative emission canister pin (1) and the fuel tank pin (2) must engage.


Install the evaporative emission canister to the fuel tank.


2. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge pipe (1) and the fuel tank vent pipe (2) to the evaporative emission canister (3).


3. Install the EN-904 base frame to the hydraulic lift.

4. Position the hydraulic lift with EN-904 base frame and lift up the fuel tank.

5. Install both fuel tank straps to the fuel tank (2).


6. Install both fuel tank strap fasteners (1).

7. Connect the fuel feed front pipe quick connector to the fuel feed front pipe (2). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .


8. Connect the evaporative emission front pipe quick connector to the evaporative emission front pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

9. Install the fuel tank filler pipe to the fuel tank. Refer to Filler Tube Replacement .

10. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Exhaust System Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Exhaust System Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) Exhaust System Replacement (LHU/A20NFT - AWD, LAU/A28NER - AWD) .

11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

12. Close the hood.
