Exhaust System Flex Pipe Shipping Protector Removal and Installation (All Engine)

To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6 degrees up or down.

The exhaust system clamps must be replaced every time they are detached.
|
|
When installing the exhaust system, the shipping protector should only be removed after installation and before starting the engine. The shipping protector should be installed for other operations in which the exhaust system has to be removed, stored and used to secure the flex pipe.

Secure the exhaust system to the vehicle underbody at the flex pipe using suitable means, such as wire (use a 2nd mechanic, if required). If there is a need to move the exhaust system assembly follow the shipping protector installation instructions (1).
