Battery Rundown Protection Circuit Short to Ground
Circuit/System Description |
With the Ignition OFF, the body control module monitors the battery voltage to make sure that the voltage stays within the proper range. If the battery voltage is to low the BCM cuts several electrical circuits depending on the charging condition of the battery.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
The ignition switch is OFF.
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
The BCM detects a low battery voltage.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
The BCM cuts several electrical circuits depending on the charging condition of the battery.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
The condition for setting the DTC is not longer present.

Circuit/System Verification |
1. |
Run the engine and have the accessories off. Measure and register the battery voltage at the battery connections. The voltage must be between 12.6-15.0 V.
|
2. |
If not within the specified range, refer to
Charging System Test
.

3. |
Ignition OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals. The voltage must be between 12.45-12.75 V.
|
4. |
If not within the specified range, refer to
Battery Inspection/Test
.
|
5. |
Clear DTCs and verify the DTC B1480 does not reset.
|
6. |
If the DTC resets, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
|

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
