To prevent personal injury and/or component damage, do not allow the weight of the vehicle to load the front wheels, or attempt to operate the vehicle, when the wheel drive shaft(s) or wheel drive shaft nut(s) are removed. To do so may cause the inner bearing race to separate, resulting in damage to brake and suspension components and loss of vehicle control.

Warning
|
Wheel drive shaft boots, seals and clamps should be protected from sharp objects any time service is performed on or near the wheel drive shaft(s). Damage to the boot(s), the seal(s) or the clamp(s) may cause lubricant to leak from the joint and lead to increased noise and possible failure of the wheel drive shaft.

Preliminary Procedure

Remove the drive shaft from the Intermediate shaft and support the drive shaft.

Boot Retaining Ring (Qty: 2)
Procedure
The circlips are destroyed when removed. Replace with new. Use
CH-22610
pliers on installation of new strap.

Front Wheel Drive Shaft Inner Joint Boot
Procedure
1.
|
Push the boot onto the shaft.
|
3.
|
Tit a new boot onto the shaft.
|

Front Wheel Drive Shaft Constant Velocity Inner Joint

Procedure
1.
|
Remove the joint from the shaft using a brass drift and a sledgehammer. Ensure the brass drift is aligned to the inner race.
|
2.
|
Remove and discard the axle shaft retaining ring from the axle shaft.
|
3.
|
On installation always install NEW retaining ring.
|
4.
|
On installation use the special grease included in the parts kit.
