1. Fuel Door Unlatch Malfunction
Circuit/System Description
The locking and unlocking of the fuel door is a function of the power door lock system. The fuel door unlatch actuator shares the circuit with the driver door latch. The body control module (BCM), upon receipt of a lock switch lock or unlock signal, will switch the appropriate door latch, as well as a fuel filler door unlatch actuator control circuits to B+ voltage. The opposing side of the door latch and fuel filler door unlatch actuator is connected to ground provided by the BCM through the other the door latch control circuits, along with the fuel filler door unlatch actuator, will lock or unlock as commanded.

Circuit/System Verification
Observe the operation of the power door locks and fuel filler door while using the power door lock switch. The fuel filler door should Lock and Unlock as commanded along with the door locks.
1.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator.
2.
Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminals 1 and 2.
3.
Command the power door locks to Lock and Unlock using the power door lock switch. The test lamp should illuminate briefly for each command.
4.
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuits for an open circuit/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator.
Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator Test
1.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator.
2.
Connect a bridging connector, protected with a 25 amp fuse, between the locking control terminal 2 and 12 V. Briefly make and break a connection between control terminal 1 and ground. The M27 fuel filler cap release actuator should lock and unlock.
3.
If the function does not perform as specified, replace the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator.
4.
Reverse the jumper wires; the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator should perform the Unlock/Lock function.
5.
If the function does not perform as specified, replace the M27 Fuel Door Unlatch Actuator.
