Open the drain plug and drain out the coolant. Remove the lid of the expansion tank to speed up the draining.

Remove the air cleaner complete with hoses.

Remove the belt tensioner and remove the servo pump's pulley.

Remove the water pump pulley (to do this you will have to press the engine towards the left in the car - use the engine bracket as a fulcrum).

Remove the timing cover.
|

Remove the coolant pump.

To fit |

Clean the sealing surfaces and fit a new O-ring.

Apply acid-free vaseline to the sealing surfaces and the O-ring and fit the coolant pump.

Fit the timing cover.
|
4. |
Refit the water pump pulley (to do this you will have to press the engine towards the left in the car - use the engine bracket as a fulcrum).

Refit the servo pump's pulley.
Turning torque 8 Nm (6 lbf ft). |

Fit the belt tensioner.
Turning torque 40 Nm (30 lbf ft). |

Relieve the load from the belt tensioner by turning the belt tensioner pulley locking bolt forwards in the car using a 15 mm wrench. Fit the belt on the coolant pump pulley and check the other pulleys. Carefully release the belt tensioner.

Refit the air cleaner complete with hoses.

Make sure that the radiator drain plug is screwed in tight. Fill with coolant and check the system for leaks.

Bleed the system as follows: Fill the system to the MAX level, fit the pressure cap, start the engine and warm it up, preferably at varying throttle openings, until the radiator fan starts. Remove the pressure cap and top up to the MAX level. Fit the pressure cap and run the engine at varying throttle openings until the radiator fan starts three more times. Switch off the engine and top up the system as necessary to the MAX level.
