Checking the pressure regulator, four-
cylinder engine
1.
Connect the pressure gauge,
special tool 83 93 852, to the pressure side of the fuel injection manifold.
2.
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and connect the
vacuum pump.
3.
Start the vacuum pump. Use battery voltage from fuse No. 4 (input)
connected to fuse No. 32 (output) in the fuse box. Use a jumper lead,
special tool 83 93 886.
4.
Take a reading at atmospheric pressure. It should be 3 bar (43 psi).
5.
Increase the vacuum in the pressure regulator by means of the vacuum
pump, special tool (45) 30 14 883. System pressure should now drop by
the same amount as shown on the pressure gauge, see "Technical
data" for details.
Additionally for the turbo engine:
6.
Increase the pressure in the pressure regulator by means of the
vacuum pump. System pressure should now go up by the same amount as
shown on the pressure gauge. See "Technical data" for details.
