Fuel injection manifold with injectors, four- cylinder

Warning

Removal of the fuel injection manifold involves partial dismantling of the car's fuel system. The following points must therefore be observed in connection with this work:

Work only in a well-ventilated area. If approved equipment for the extraction of fuel vapour is available, be sure to use it.

Wear suitable gloves. Prolonged contact with fuel may give rise to skin irritation or dermatitis.

Keep a class BE fire extinguisher near at hand. Be mindful of the danger of sparks caused by short-circuits and when connecting and disconnecting leads, etc. in electrical circuits.

No smoking anywhere in the vicinity.

To remove

Important

Scrupulous cleanliness is of the utmost importance when working on the fuel injection manifold and injectors. Thoroughly clean the area round the injectors, injection manifold and intake manifold and blow dry with compressed air.

1. Remove the resonator (cowl on turbo engine).

2. Remove the crankcase breather hose and the idle adjusting valve.

3. Remove the bracket for the dipstick holder and the throttle and Cruise Control cables.

4. Disconnect the pressure and return fuel lines from the fuel injection manifold, using special tool 83 94 702.

5. Remove the four retaining bolts, two at each end of the fuel injection manifold. Remove the two protective covers and unplug the electric leads from the injectors.

6. Carefully lift up the fuel injection manifold.

7. Remove the locking clips securing the injectors to the injection manifold and withdraw the injectors.
