B1710

No engine rpm signal

Fault symptom

TCS OFF lamp on, TCS symptom inoperative

Condition

No engine rpm signal and car driven at speeds above 60 km/h.

Diagnostic procedure

Note

If the tachometer (rev counter) does not work, the problem is probably a short circuit in one of the systems where the rpm signal is used.

1. With the engine running, check that engine speed is correct when ENGINE RPM is selected in the "OBTAIN READINGS" menu on the ISAT.

If it is not, check the cable between pin 6 of the control menu and pin 43 of the MOTRONIC control module.

2. Clear the code diagnostic trouble code. Start the car and drive it on test to check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs. If it does, see "Before replacing a control module" for further measures.
