Fault symptom

The lamp does not work or is on all the time.




Conditions

B1213 : Seat-belt warning lamp shorted to battery positive, shorted to ground, open circuit.

NOTE: DTC B1213 will also be generated if the starter motor is run for lengthy periods.

Diagnostic procedure


1. Check the lamp in the dashboard.

Important

The seat-belt warning lamp lights up for only 6 seconds when the ignition is switched on. Check points 2 and 3 when the lamp is on. (The lamp can be switched on with the scan tool.)


2. Check that 12 V is present across pin 2 of the seat-belt warning lamp connector and a good ground. If it is not, check the lead between fuse 33 and the lamp.

3. Check that pin 1 of the lamp is connected to ground when activated.


4. If no ground connection is obtained, connect a BOB and check the lead between pin 56 of the ICE connector and pin 1 of the lamp connector for continuity/shorting.
