Symptom: Radiator fan runs continuously.

B1311

Coolant temperature below -60°C (-76°F) or above 160°C (320°F)

Fault symptom

Radiator fan runs continuously.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Select "READ VALUES" from the scan tool menu and then "COOLANT TEMP". Read the scan tool display. The coolant temperature should be between 80° and 90°C (176° and 194°F) when the engine is at normal operating temperature. If there is any fault in the circuit, the scan tool will show a temperature of 215°C.

2. Check the resistance of the coolant temperature sensor connector and compare it with the table. If the resistance is not OK, the fault is in the temperature sensor. Change the temperature sensor.

3. If the resistance is OK, connect a BOB and check the wiring between pins 5 and 58 of the ICE connector and pins 2 and 1 respectively of the coolant temperature sensor connector for continuity or shorting.
