RH direction indicators shorted to ground

Fault symptom

The direction indicator lamp does not work, "TICK TACK" sound generated at double frequency.

Conditions

B1442: The right-hand direction indicators are shorted to ground.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Activate the direction indicator switch and check the power supply to the direction indicator lamps by taking readings as follows:

across pin 2 of the connector for the front direction indicator lamps and a good grounding point.

across the connector for the side direction indicators (green/black) and a good grounding point.

between connector contact pin 4 of the rear direction indicator lamps and a good grounding point.

The readings should change between 0 V and 12 V.

2. If it does not, connect a BOB and check the leads for shorting to ground as follows:

across pin 48 of the ICE module connector and pin 2 of the connector for the front right-hand direction indicator lamp.

across pin 1 of the ICE module connector and the connector for the right-hand side direction indicator (yellow/black lead).

across pin 48 of the ICE module connector and pin 4 of the connector for the right-hand rear direction indicator lamp.

3. Connect a voltmeter between connector pins 1 and 48 or 70. Activate the direction indicators by selecting "ACT. OTHER FUNCT" from the scan tool menu and then "LH DIRECT. INDIC." or "RH DIRECT. INDIC." Check that the voltmeter reading changes between 0 V and 12 V with the ignition "ON".

4. If it does not, the fault is probably in the ICE module. Proceed to .
