Operational checks (MIU 2)
|
1.
|
Connect a Scan Tool and select
"TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "SPEEDOMETER TEST". If in proper working order, the
speedometer needle should move from 0 to 250 km/h.
During this test, operation of the radio's speed-dependent volume adjustment
can also be tested.
|
2.
|
By selecting "ACTIVATE" and then "SPEED" on the Scan Tool, the desired
speed can be entered. The speedometer needle will then move to the corresponding figure.
|
The odometer display consists of a separately replaceable unit. Mileage
information is stored in the instrument unit. On replacement of the display unit no resetting will
be necessary as the current odometer reading will be obtained automatically. If the odometer
display lighting is weaker on one side than on the other, it may be because one of the two
bulbs behind the display is faulty.
1.
|
Connect the Scan Tool and
selected "TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "ODOMETER TEST" or "TRIP METER TEST".
This will cause all the segments in the relevant meter to light up (it will show eights). If any
segment in any of the eights is missing, the display unit is faulty.
|
2.
|
Using the Scan Tool "ACTIVATE" function followed by "ODOMETER" or "TRIP
METER", the desired number can be entered (000000-999999 and 000.0-999.9) and shown
on the relevant display.
Note
|
All six or all four digits must be entered.
|
|
1.
|
Connect the Scan Tool and
select "TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "TACHOMETER TEST". If in proper working order
the tachometer (rev counter) needle should go up to 7000 rpm and then drop back to 0.
If BLACK PANEL has been activated, the tachometer should light up when the needle
enters the red zone and go out when engine rpm drops and the needle leaves the red zone.
|
2.
|
Using the Scan Tool "ACTIVATE" function followed by "ENGINE SPEED RPM",
the desired engine rpm can be set and the tachometer needle will indicate the corresponding
figure.
|
Turbo pressure gauge (turbo/APC)
|
1.
|
Connect the Scan Tool and
select "TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "TURBO GAUGE TEST".
If in proper working order the needle of the turbo/APC gauge should move from left
to right across the scale and back again.
If BLACK PANEL has been activated, the tank/temp/turbo gauges should light
up when the turbo gauge needle enters the red zone and go out about 10 seconds after the
needle has left the red zone.
|
2.
|
Using the Scan Tool "ACTIVATE" function followed by "TURBO PRESSURE",
the desired turbo pressure can be set and the turbo/APC gauge needle will move to the
corresponding part of the scale.
|
1.
|
Connect the Scan Tool and
select "TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "FUEL GAUGE TEST".
If in proper working order, the fuel gauge needle should travel from empty (R) to full (F)
and then back to empty.
If BLACK PANEL has been activated, the tank/temp/turbo gauges should light
up when the needle enters the red zone. The warning lamp should light up when the needle
enters the red zone.
|
2.
|
Using the Scan Tool "ACTIVATE" function followed by "TANK CONTENTS", the
desired fuel level can be set and the fuel gauge needle will move to the corresponding part of
the scale.
|
1.
|
Connect the Scan Tool and
select "TEST FUNCTIONS" followed by "TEMPERATURE GAUGE".
If in proper working order, the temperature gauge needle should move from the lower
part of the scale to the upper part.
If BLACK PANEL has been activated, the tank/temp/turbo gauges should light
up when the needle enters the red zone.
|
2.
|
Using the Scan Tool "ACTIVATE" function followed by "COOLANT TEMP.", the
desired temperature can be set and the temperature gauge needle will move to the
corresponding part of the scale.
Note
|
Temperature gauge indication is not linear. Between about 80°C and 115°C
(xx and xxx °F) the needle is horizontal on the scale.
