Battery, discharging through light switch in luggage compartment |
Cars affected |
All Saab 900 M94-M98
Background |
The luggage compartment lighting can go on when the tailgate/trunk lid is accidentally opened with the remote control on certain cars.
As a result, the car battery can be discharged through inadvertent activation of the tailgate/boot lid opening with the remote control.
After a customer complaint concerning a discharged battery, check whether the light switch can be the cause of the problem. If so, the problem can be corrected by fitting 2 spacer washers. This gives the switch contacts just enough clearance so that the light will not go on. It is possible to program the alarm system to ‘’chirp” when the trunk button on the remote is pressed. This will warn the customer when they have pressed this button by accident to avoid leaving the trunk unprotected.
