Checking horn
Checking horn |
Fault symptom |
The horn sounds continuously
Action |
1. |
Connect ISAT, select "ACTIVATE", then "HORN ON/OFF", activate the horn with "ON". The horn should sound.
|
2. |
If not, select "READ VALUES" on the ISAT menu (leave the "activate " function in "ON" position) and then select "RELAY, HORN". Read off on the display.
When horn is activated - "ACTIVE" |
3. |
If step 2 is OK, connect BOB and check the voltage between control module connection 24 and a good grounding point.
The voltage must be approximately 12 V. If the voltage is OK, proceed to step 5. |
4. |
If incorrect voltage, check the wiring harness by measuring resistance for short-circuit to ground between:
|
• |
33-pin connector (blue connector) below the left A-pillar, connection 1 and one connection for the horn (red lead).
|
• |
second connection for the horn (yellow lead) and the control module pin 24.
The resistance should be < 1 Ohm. If the resistance is correct, the malfunction is in the horn. Change horn. |
5. |
Check the grounding by measuring the resistance between the control module connection 22 and a good grounding point.
The resistance should be < 1 Ohm. If the resistance is incorrect, check the wiring harness for open circuits. |
