Checking horn

Checking horn

Fault symptom

The horn sounds continuously

Action

1. Connect ISAT, select "ACTIVATE", then "HORN ON/OFF", activate the horn with "ON". The horn should sound.

2. If not, select "READ VALUES" on the ISAT menu (leave the "activate " function in "ON" position) and then select "RELAY, HORN". Read off on the display.

When horn is activated - "ACTIVE"

3. If step 2 is OK, connect BOB and check the voltage between control module connection 24 and a good grounding point.

The voltage must be approximately 12 V.

If the voltage is OK, proceed to step 5.

4. If incorrect voltage, check the wiring harness by measuring resistance for short-circuit to ground between:

33-pin connector (blue connector) below the left A-pillar, connection 1 and one connection for the horn (red lead).

second connection for the horn (yellow lead) and the control module pin 24.

The resistance should be < 1 Ohm.

If the resistance is correct, the malfunction is in the horn. Change horn.

5. Check the grounding by measuring the resistance between the control module connection 22 and a good grounding point.

The resistance should be < 1 Ohm.

If the resistance is incorrect, check the wiring harness for open circuits.
