Connector to evap canister purge valve difficult to fit
Saab 900 model year 1994 up to and including VIN R2015828.
It is possible on some cars for the CHECK ENGINE lamp to come on intermittently due to bad contact between the connector and the evap canister purge valve. This is caused by the guide lugs on the wiring harness connector not corresponding with the evap canister purge valve connection.
1.
Locate the evap canister purge valve on the right wheel housing.
2.
Make sure the connector is correctly fitted and pressed into the evap canister purge valve. If the connector can be unplugged without too much effort, check to see if both guide lugs are present on the wiring harness connector.
3.
If both guide lugs are present, file away at least 4 mm as illustrated.
4.
Plug in the wiring harness connector again and check the operation of the evap canister purge valve.
5.
Clear any DTC's in ISAT
