Modification of wiring harness for towbar installation
Applies to all Saab 900 M94 up to and including VIN R215950 without factory fitted pre-wiring for towbar installation.
Due to a defect in the car's instrument harness, the harness for towbar installation (400 101 242) must be modified so that the brake lights will work once the towbar has been installed.
These measures can be carried out when installing the wiring harness, whereby the necessary modification can be seen in the description.
The following measures can be carried out after customer complaint (of existing harness fitted by dealer or customer).
1.

2.
Cut off a 50 cm long piece of the purple cable and strip one end approx. 15 mm.
3.
Fit a cable lug (included in the wiring harness kit) and then fit an insulating sleeve over the cable lug.
4.
Connect the additional cable to the wiring harness as illustrated.
5.
Connect the free end of the additional cable to the purple cable on the brake light switch (29) using the cable shunt, see illustration.
6.
Secure the additional cable in a suitable way.
7.
Check the operation of the brake lights and then refit the knee protection (and glove box where appropriate) and the scuff plate.
