2. Lift up the floor carpet behind the seat member to expose the green cable to the EXH sensor.

3. Check to make sure the front plug in the floor is not covered by the insulating mat and can be removed from below. If necessary, carefully cut away the part of the insulating mat that is covering the plug.

Important

Take care not to damage the paintwork!

4. Raise the car.

5. Detach the EXH sensor and undo the clips securing the cable.

6. Carefully press the EXH cable rubber grommet into the cabin.

7. Insert the cable and sensor through the opening in the bottom plate.

8. Carefully remove the loosened plug by pinching it together slightly and pressing it into the cabin.

Important

Do not damage the plug with a screwdriver, etc! It is to be used for sealing the hole where the EXH cable rubber grommet was fitted.

9. Fit cable tie 79 71 898. If the opening by the arrow is filled with sealant, make a hole for the cable tie with a screwdriver, for instance.

Important

Take care not to damage the paintwork!

10. Lower the car.

11. Move the rubber grommet on the cable in the direction of the protective spiral until it stops.

12. Extract the EXH sensor through the front hole and fit the rubber grommet onto the flange of the hole.

13. Secure the cable in a suitable place under the carpet with the two cable ties 79 71 880.

14. Fit the plug that was removed in step 8 into the rear hole.

15. Raise the car.

16. Fit the EXH sensor to the catalytic converter and secure the cable with the cable tie fitted in step 9.

17. Seal the opening at the arrow with sealant 45 - 3016052.

Important

Do not seal the small round hole.

18. Seal also round the rear plug as well as the cable grommet if necessary.

19. Lower the car.

20. Test the operation of the EXH sensor by turning the ignition key to ON. The EXH lamp will then go on and off again after 3 seconds if the sensor is in working order.

21. Replace the carpet and refit the seat.
