Cars concerned

Certain Saab 900 and 9000 M1994 cars with a manual gearbox.

Background

The bolts for the crown wheel in the final drive are replaced by new bolts of better quality. This also applies when fitted as a spare part. The new bolts have “12.9” stamped on the head and are fitted from gearbox serial No. J58614, inclusive.

The tightening torque for the new bolt is 20 ± 3 Nm (15 ± 2 lbf ft) + 90° ± 10°.

Thread locking fluid need not be used.

Important

Not not fit bolts of both new and old type in the same crown wheel. Always fit new bolts.
