Dismantle the gear-lever housing as described in the "Gear lever housing" section of "Manual gearbox"

Rubber gaiter: Remove the gaiter from the gear lever. If vaseline or the like is used, as little as possible should be applied.
Leather gaiter: Detach the bottom of the gaiter and lift it up. Untwist the wire securing the top of the gaiter to the detent collar and pull the gaiter over the gear-lever knob.

Put the gear lever into reverse, unhook the plastic clip and remove the screw securing the gear rod to the gear lever.

Remove the clip and connector from the gear lever housing.

5. |
Remove the spring holding the spherical socket ring in place and remove the spherical socket by turning it anticlockwise.

Remove the gear lever.

To refit |
1. |
Lubricate the bearing with Gleitmo 750.
|
2. |
Fit the new gear lever in place and refit the spherical socket ring by turning it clockwise. Hook the spring onto the spherical socket hook.

3. |
Fit the clip and connector in the gear lever housing.
|
4. |
Put the gear lever in reverse, fit the gear rod to the gear lever and refit the clip.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 lbf ft) |

Rubber gaiter: Fit the gaiter. If vaseline or the like is used, as little as possible should be applied.
Leather gaiter: Pull the gaiter over the gear-lever knob. Wind steel wire round the top of the gaiter and detent collar. Tighten the wire by twisting the ends together. Bend in the ends of the wire so that they do not press against the gaiter and perforate it. |

Fit the complete gear-lever housing and gear rod as described in the "Gear lever housing" section in "Manual gearbox"
