Symptom: "CHECK ACS" lamp on. Car will not start.
Starting relay, break
Fault symptom
"CHECK ACS" lamp on. Car will not start.
Condition
Current (+50 circuit) is supplied to the control module but the current flowing through the starter relay coil is low.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the starter relay

Unplug the starter relay and connect a test lamp to contact 86 of the relay socket and a good grounding point.

|
Put the gear lever in neutral.
|

|
Turn the ignition switch to the ST position.
|
The test lamp should light up.
Did the test lamp light up?
Continue with point 2.
Repair or replace the lead in question and proceed to point 3.
2 Check the starter relay (contd.)

Connect a test lamp to contacts 86 and 85 of the relay socket.
|

|
Put the gear lever in neutral.
|
-
|
Turn the ignition switch to the ST position.
|
The test lamp should light up.
Did the test lamp light up?
Change the starter relay and continue with point 3.
Repair or replace the lead in question and proceed to point 3.
3 Final check

Clear the diagnostic trouble code.
|

|
Perform a drive cycle by driving the car at varying engine rpm and loads for 5 minutes.
|

|
Check whether the diagnostic trouble code has recurred.
|
Has the diagnostic trouble code recurred?
