Track-rod ends

To remove



1. Slacken the locking bolt slightly.

2. Slacken the nut slightly.

3. Use special tool 89 96 696 to press out the track rod end.

4. Remove the nut.

5. Measure the length of thread on the adjusting screw.

6. Unscrew the track-rod end (using an adjustable spanner to hold the adjusting screw).


To fit



1. Screw in the track-rod end to the correct thread length on the adjusting screw.

2. Fit the track-rod end to the MacPherson strut and tighten it, using a torque wrench.

Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44.3 lbf ft).

Important

Before retightening the locking bolt, make sure that the track-rod end is in the right position, i.e. at 90 ° to the MacPherson strut.


3. Tighten the locking bolt, using a torque wrench.

Tightening torque: 22 Nm (16.2 lbf ft).

4. Check the toe-in and adjust as necessary.
