Removal |

1. |
Remove the negative lead from
the battery.
|
2. |
Remove the glove box. See section 853 in Service Manual 8:2 "Interior
equipment".

3. |
Disconnect the airbag's electrical connection.
|
4. |
Remove the bolt that holds the stay to the steering wheel member.
|
5. |
Undo the six airbag retaining nuts.
|
6. |
Lift out the airbag.
|
Fitting |
|
1. |
Fit the airbag in place. Check
that no loose objects are between the top of the dashboard and the airbag. Tighten the nuts
securing the airbag to the top of the dashboard.
Tightening torque: 6-11 Nm (4.4-8.1 lbf ft) |
2. |
Seal the front right and the rear left nuts with marking paint. For part number,
see Service Information 853-1398.

3. |
Tighten the bolt that holds the stay to the steering wheel member.
Tightening torque: 14-26 Nm (10.3-19.2 lbf ft) |
4. |
Connect the electric lead to the airbag.
|
5. |
Refit the glove box. See section 853 in Service Manual 8:2 Interior
equipment.

6. |
Refit the negative battery lead.
|
7. |
Connect the ISAT to the data link connector under the facia and erase any
diagnostic trouble codes.
|
8. |
Start the engine and check that the SRS lamp comes on for about 3-4 seconds
and then goes out.
