Fault diagnosis
Fault diagnosis |
• |
Read through the Safety and
handling instructions.
|
• |
Unplug the connectors on the back of the steering wheel airbag and passenger
airbag.
|
• |
Connect reference resistor 84 71 153 to the relevant connector.
Also note the following: |
• |
Splicing of SRS cables is strictly prohibited. Splicing can cause malfunctioning of
the system, rendering it inoperative and in the worst case lead to injuries.
|
• |
If a connector is unplugged while the ignition is switched on it will be recorded as
a fault by the control module. The fault will not disappear until the connector is plugged in
again and the diagnostic trouble code has been cleared.
|
• |
Always start fault diagnosis by making a note of the diagnostic trouble code.
Then clear the diagnostic trouble code, switch off the ignition, switch it on again and wait for at
least 40 seconds. Then check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs. It it does, the fault
is permanent. If it does not, the fault is intermittent. Leave the ignition switched on and try to
provoke the fault by jiggling the appropriate connectors, leads. etc.
Note whether the SRS lamp is flashing and if it is, check to see whether the diagnostic trouble code has reappeared. The following designations are used in connection with fault diagnosis: Electric detonator 1 = electric detonator steering wheel airbag Electric detonator 2 = electric detonator passenger airbag |
