Front wings

To remove

1. Unplug the connector for the side flashers.

2. Undo the screw securing the front of the wing to the inside of the wheel housing.

Note

The easiest way of removing the screw is to use a TORX bit and a small adjustable spanner.

3. Lower the car to the floor.

4. Remove the wing liners from the front wing.

5. Remove the light cluster and unplug its connector.

6. Open the front door to gain access to the two rear wing retaining screws between the wing and the door.

Note

It might also be necessary to remove the door keeps so that the door can be opened wider.

7. Slacken the rear retaining screws.

Note

The screws need not be removed as the wing can be withdrawn from the bracket.

8. Remove the seven retaining screws at the top of the wing.

Note

On the left-hand wing the screw securing the washer fluid filler pipe must also be removed.

9. Detach the bonnet gas spring from the structural member.

10. Carefully lift away the front wing.

11. Fit the bonnet gas spring to the structural member.

Note

When fitting a replacement wing, transfer the side flashers and trim moulding to the new wing.

To fit

Remove the rivets by pressing out the centre pin, using a drift.

1. Detach the bonnet gas spring from the structural member.

2. Lift the front wings into position.

3. Fit the bonnet gas spring to the structural member.

4. Loosely fit the retaining screws in the top and rear edge of the wing.

5. Adjust the position of the wing, aligning it with the bonnet and door.

6. Tighten the retaining screws.

Note

Left-hand side: Fit the washer fluid reservoir filler pipe to the wing (1 screw).

7. Refit the door keep (if removed).

8. Fit the light cluster and plug in its connector.

Note

The bracket is located on the inside of the wheel housing and the wing will be easier to fit if a TORX bit and a small adjustable spanner is used.
