Part of radiator member
| Part of radiator member |
It is more suitable to cut and join the radiator member when only one side is damaged, as removal of the front wing on the undamaged side will then be unnecessary.
| 1. |
        Drill out the spot welds.

| 2. |
Cut away the damaged part of the radiator member.

| 3. |
        Realign any deformed metalwork.
| 4. |
Cut the spare part roughly to size so that it will overlap the joint by a couple of centimetres.
| 5. |
Position the spare part and fix it with a couple of welding clamps. Hang the wing on, lower the bonnet and align the spare part.
| 6. |
Cut through both the spare part and the old radiator cross member simultaneously so that the joint can be welded edge- to-edge.
| 7. |
Use a grinder to clean the areas on the spare part and the body that are to be welded.

| 8. |
Apply welding primer to the surfaces which are to be spot welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.
| 9. |
Position the spare part and fix it with a couple of welds. Hang the wing on, lower the bonnet and align the spare part.
| 10. |
Weld the joints on the radiator cross member.
| 11. |
Spot weld the radiator cross member to the wheel housing.

| 12. |
        Grind the welds clean.
| 13. |
Wash off surplus welding primer. Welding primer makes for poorer adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
| 14. |
Apply primer to all surfaces which have been ground clean. Use Standox 1K Füllprimer.
| 15. |
Seal joints and metal folds with putty. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.
