Blended-air temperature sensor

Blended-air temperature sensor

The blended-air temperature sensor is of NTC type with a pointed tip which is introduced into one of the heating and ventilation unit floor vents.

It is placed in the floor vent because the air there is completely blended and the air supply for it is assured, regardless of the air distribution setting, due to controlled leakage.

When the ACC control module has decided what temperature the blended air should have, the reading from the blended-air temperature sensor is used to correct the position of the blended-air damper.

If the selected temperature is "HI" or "LO", the blended air temperature sensor's value will not be used. If no blended-air temperature can be obtained, the coolant temperature and position of the air-blending damper are used to calculate a substitute value.
