      | 1. | Remove the intake hose and resonator (B206i B234i).

 |

      | 2. | Turn the crankshaft to the 0° mark and remove the plug.

      | 3. | Take out the locating pin and spring.

New chain tensioners come with the spring under tension. Be careful not to remove the pin before the chain tensioner has been fitted in place on the engine.

      | 1. | Prepare the chain tensioner for fitting by pressing down the catch and pushing in the chain tensioner.

 |

      | 2. | Fit the chain tensioner, using a 27 mm socket.
Tightening torque: 63 Nm (47 lbf ft).

 |

      | 3. | Fit the plug for the chain tensioner with push rod and spring.
Tightening torque: 22 Nm (16 lbf ft).

As the plug is screwed in, the spring pushes the tensioning arm out and so tightens the chain.

      | 4. | Fit the resonator and the intake hose (B206i B234i).
