Engine suspension, rear

To remove



1. Remove the engine covers, suspend the engine in yoke 83 94 850 and remove oxygen sensor cables.

2. Lift the car and remove the front wheels and the spoiler sections. Separate the joint between the front exhaust pipe and the middle pipe.


3. Unbolt the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and remove the exhaust pipe.

4. Remove the two steering swivel joints and the rear engine mounting. Use puller 89 96 696. Position a lifting table under the engine, raise the lifting table, undo the other bolts and lower the subframe.


5. Remove the rear engine mounting.


To fit


1. Bolt the engine mounting to the gearbox.


Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft).

2. Offer up the sub-frame and bolt it in place.

Tightening torques

front: 115 Nm (85 lbf ft)

middle: 190 Nm (140.6 lbf ft)

- rear: 110 Nm (81.4 lbf ft) + 75°.

3. Fit and tighten the engine mounting bolts to the subframe. The engine mounting must be moved as far to the right as possible.

Tightening torque 39 Nm (29 lbf ft).

4. Refit the steering swivel joint bolts.

Tightening torque: 75 Nm (55.5 lbf ft).

5. Clean the exhaust pipe joints.


6. Fit new gaskets and lift up the front exhaust pipe. Bolt it onto the exhaust manifold.

Important

It is very important that all joints are sealed.


7. Connect the joints between the front exhaust pipe and the middle pipe.

8. Fit the spoiler sections and tighten the wheels.

Tightening torques

110 Nm (81 lbf ft)

9. Lower the car and connect the oxygen sensor cables.


10. Remove the yoke and refit the covers.
