To remove |

Open the drain plug and drain the coolant. Remove the lid on the expansion tank to speed up the draining.

Undo the upper radiator hoses from the expansion tank.

3. |
Disconnect the level sensor's electrical connection (certain models).
|
4. |
Remove the screw securing the expansion tank.
|
5. |
Lift up the expansion tank and undo the lower radiator hose.

To fit |
1. |
Refit the lower radiator hose to the expansion tank and position the expansion tank.
|
2. |
Refit the screw securing the expansion tank and reconnect the level sensor's electrical connection (certain models).

3. |
Reconnect the upper radiator hoses.
|
4. |
Make sure that the radiator drain plug is screwed in tight. Fill with coolant and check the system for leaks.

5. |
Bleed the system as follows (B258i): Fill the system to the MAX level, fit the pressure cap, start the engine and warm it up, preferably at varying rpm, until the radiator fan starts. Remove the pressure cap and top up to the MAX level. Fit the pressure cap and run the engine at varying throttle openings until the radiator fan starts three more times. Switch off the engine and top up the system as necessary to the MAX level.
