All Saab 900 models with a 4-cylinder engine and A C or ACC having the following chassis numbers:
R2000001-T2002623 (3-/5-d)
S7000001-T7000462 (cabriolet).
| Background | 
On account of unequal forces within the poly-Vbelt circuit it is possible that the water pump pulley shears at its centre axle shaft, causing the poly-Vbelt to become adrift. Upon this happening the function of the alternator, steering servo pump, A/C compressor and the water pump will be lost. The problem is solved with a new design of pump (fig. B) having the pulley bolted to the pump axle and not welded as in fig. A.

| Procedure | 
Inspect the water pump pulley. If the pump is of type "A" as shown, continue as follows:
Change the water pump according to Service Manual 2:4 "Exhaust system, cooling system, turbo system" pages
