Coolant temperature lower than -60°C (-76°F) or higher than +160°C (+320°F)

Fault symptom

Radiator fan running all the time

Measures

1. Select "READ VALUES" in the diagnostics instrument menu and then "COOLANT TEMP.". Read off the diagnostics instrument.

The coolant temperature should be between 80-90C (176-194F) with the engine at operating temperature. If there is a fault in the circuit, the diagnostics instrument will show 215C (419F).

2. Check the resistance on the coolant temperature sensor's connector and compare with the table.

If the resistance is not correct, the fault is in the temperature sensor. Fit a new temperature sensor.

3. If the resistance is correct, connect a BOB and check the cable between ICE connections 5 and 58 respectively and coolant temperature sensor connections 2 and 1 respectively as regards open circuits short circuits.
