Checking of injectors' flow capacity


Warning

Ensure good air circulation. If approved ventilation is present for the extraction of fuel vapours, this must be used. Use safety gloves. Prolonged contact with fuel can cause skin irritation.Keep a class BE fire extinguisher to hand. Be aware of the risk of spark generation, e.g. in connection with the breaking of circuits, shorting etc.Smoking is strictly forbidden.



1. Remove the fuel-injection rail and injectors.

2. Start the fuel pump by connecting a jumper cable between fuses 4 and 32 with special tool 83 93 886. Check that the injectors do not leak.

3. Place the injectors one after the other over a measuring glass and connect the injector to be checked to battery voltage using cables 86 11 410 and 86 11 345. Activate the valve for exactly 30 seconds and then check that the amount of fuel in the measuring glass is 176±14 ml. The maximum permitted difference between the injectors is 18 ml.


4. Replace any faulty injectors.

5. Fit fuel-injection rail and injectors. Take care to connect the valves' connectors to the correct valve.
