Fault diagnosis, no sound or noise/aerial

Fault symptom
No sound from radio or noise only. Cassette player functioning normally. Cassette
player functioning normally.
Diagnostic procedure
1.

Switch on the radio unit. If the
motorized aerial goes up the fault is in the aerial cable. Carry out points 1-4 on page
.

|
The motorized aerial does not extend
Unplug the
aerial's two-pin connector. Connect the test lamp to pins 1 and 2 of the female
connector. If the radio is switched off the test lamp should light up and stay on. Switch on the
radio and check whether the test lamp goes out. If the lamp lights up and goes out as above,
the fault is in the aerial which must be changed. Before changing the aerial, check the
connector pins for possible slide-out. If the test lamp does not light up`and go out as above,
see point 3.

Connect the test lamp to pin 2 of the female connector and a good ground. The
test lamp should now light up and stay on regardless of whether the radio is switched on or
not. If the lamp lights up, see point 4. If it does not, see point 5.

4.
|
Check the wiring harness between pin 1 of the 2-pin female connector and pin 5
of the radio unit terminal A for continuity and shorting.

5.
|
Check the wiring harness between pin 2 of the 2-pin female connector and fuse
4 for continuity.
