Wiring for anti-theft alarm siren can short to ground
Saab 900 M95 up to and including VIN S2003492 that are pre-wired for an anti-theft alarm. Cars with a factory-fitted anti-theft alarm are not concerned.
The wiring terminal for the siren in the left-hand wheel housing is not insulated on certain cars. This could result in a short circuit to ground if the terminal makes contact with the front wing.
1-pin connector 85 21 544.
First check box "B4" on the modification identity plate. If this box is not marked, remedial action should be taken on the car as follows:
1.
Remove the negative battery terminal.
2.
Remove the left-hand direction indicator lamp.
3.
Withdraw the red lead connected to the anti-theft alarm siren using a length of steel wire bent to shape.
Important
Withdraw the lead carefully, making sure that the terminal and/or the rubber seal do not come loose.
4.
Fit connector 85 21 544 to the red lead's terminal. Pull the rubber seal over it.
5.
Refit the side direction indicator lamp and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Marking the modification identity plate
When remedial action has been taken on the car, box "B4" on the modification identity plate should be marked with a 7 if the car was remedied by the importer and with an 8 if remedied by a dealer.
