Checking fluid level
| Checking fluid level |
The level of the fluid can be checked in the following manner:
| 1. | Position the car on a level surface and apply the handbrake. When checking the fluid level the transmission should be warmed up to normal operating temperature (approx. + 80°C), which it will attain after driving for about 20 km. Check the fluid temperature using the diagnostic tool. | |
| 2. | Run the engine at idling speed, engage position D and wait at least 15 seconds. Then engage R and wait 15 seconds. Do the same in position P. | |
| 3. | Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth and put it back in the transmission. | |
| 4. | The fluid level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the fluid dipstick marked +80°C. Top up as necessary with Dexron II type fluid through the dipstick pipe. The distance between the marks corresponds to about 0.4 litres. | |
| 5. | In low ambient temperatures (colder than ± 0°C) it will not be possible to reach +80°C, so the fluid level should be read on the side of the dipstick marked +20°C. Important
