         This test must not be carried out for longer than 5 seconds! It is not recommended for turbo variants.

   The test indicates the general condition of the engine and transmission by checking the max. engine speed in positions D and R.
   
   
  
  
   Checking the "stalling" speed:
   
   
  
  
  
   
    
     
      | 1. | Chock all four wheels on the car. 
 
 | 
    
   
  
  
   
    
     
      | 2. | Apply the handbrake fully. 
 
   
 | 
    
   
  
  
   
    
     
      | 3. | Press the brake pedal hard. 
 
   
 | 
    
   
  
  
   
    
     
      | 4. | Start the engine and move the selector lever to position D. 
 
   
 | 
    
   
  
  
   
    
     
      | 5. | Fully depress the accelerator and quickly read off the highest engine speed. The "stalling" speed should be: 
 
   
 
        
         B258i:
        
        2150 ± 150 rpm.
        
        
         B234i:
        
        2300 ± 150 rpm.
        
        
         B204L:
        
        2325 ± 150 rpm.
