Clutch pedal

To remove

1. Disconnect the clutch wire from the gearbox clutch lever by pulling the wire and unhooking it from the wire stop.

2. Remove the following, see heading "Clutch wire, Dismantling":

3. The data link connector

4. Bottom part of the instrument panel

5. Floor air duct

6. Knee shield

7. Fuse board

8. ICE control unit

9. Air duct to air dispenser on instrument panel.

10. Move the pedal's return spring to one side and lift off the wire's plastic eye.

11. Remove locking spring, washer and nut on the screw which holds the pedal. Remove the pedal.

Fitting

1. Fit pedal and return spring with screw, nut and washer. Tighten the nut and fit the locking spring.

Tightening torque 18 Nm (13.5 lbf ft)

Important

The setting screw on the clutch pedal's console determines the pedal's neutral position. The screw is set at the factory and may not be altered as that will affect the self- adjustment.

2. Hook the plastic eye of the wire on to the pedal and replace the pedal's return spring. Check that nothing prevents the pedal from returning to its neutral position.

3. Pull out a bit of the wire and fit the wire stop on the coupling lever.

4. Check the functioning by moving the coupling lever forward in the car's direction of travel. The balancing spring should then be pressed together and the length of the wire's cover be reduced. When the coupling lever is released, the cover should then regain its original length. Repeat three to four times. Grip hold of the balancing spring and give it a small jerk to remove any play.

5. Fit the following, see heading "Clutch wire, Assembly":

The air duct to the air dispenser on the instrument panel.

ICE control unit

Fuse board

Knee shield

Floor air duct

Bottom part of the instrument panel

The data link connector.
