Bleeding the brake system

1.

Unscrew the cap on the brake
fluid reservoir and top up with brake fluid.

2.

Fit the filler funnel (supplied with brake bleeder kit 88 19 096) on the brake fluid
reservoir. Place one end of a hose in the filler funnel and the other end in a bottle filled with
fresh, clean brake fluid.

3.
|
Jack up the car. Connect the brake bleeder hose to the left-hand front
wheel and open the nipple. Drain off about 0.1 litres of brake fluid.

4.
|
Transfer the brake bleeder unit to the right-hand front wheel and open the nipple.
Drain off about 0.1 litres of brake fluid.

5.
|
Transfer the brake bleeder unit to the left-hand rear wheel and open the nipple.
Drain off about 0.05 litres of brake fluid.

6.
|
Transfer the brake bleeder unit to the right-hand rear wheel and open the nipple.
Drain off about 0.05 litres of brake fluid.

7.
|
Lower the car to the floor.
Check the operation of the brakes. Press the brake pedal and check that it does not feel
spongy or go all the way down to the floor.

8.
|
Remove the filler funnel, hose and bottle.
|
9.
|
Adjust the brake fluid level.
