ABS (ANTI-LOCK) warning lamp

ABS (ANTI-LOCK) warning lamp

The ABS control module grounds the ABS (ANTI LOCK) warning lamp if a fault arises in the wheel sensors or ABS unit.

The control module grounds pin 1 in the 25-pin connector and pin 4 in the 4- pin connector. When the ignition switch is turned to the Drive position the control module sends low-power current through all the wheel sensors to check the circuits for continuity.

The solenoid valves are also tested for continuity. If all the circuits test OK the ABS (ANTI LOCK) warning lamp goes out after 3-5 seconds.

If a fault arises while the car is being driven, the warning lamp will light up and the ABS will be disconnected.

Note

The warning lamp will also light up if the control module's power supply (+15 circuit) fails as a result of fuse 17 blowing, for instance.
