Inboard universal joint (Rzeppa): 2.0 i16

Dismantling in connection with replacement of rubber
gaiter

Important
|
The universal joint is extremely sensitive to dirt and other foreign particles, as they can
cause serious damage if allowed to get inside.

1.

Clean the outside of the
universal joint. Undo the clips securing
the rubber gaiter. Remove the old grease from inside the rubber gaiter.

2.
|
Clamp the end of the universal joint in a vice. Open the circlip and
pull the drive shaft out of the joint.

3.
|
Peel off the rubber gaiter.

Fit a new rubber gaiter on the
drive shaft.
|
2.
|
Fit the inboard universal joint onto the drive shaft. Make sure it
snaps into position. Try pulling it apart to check that it is properly
secured.

3.
|
Pack the universal joint with 120 grammes of fresh Molycote Rapid G
VN2461C grease or the equivalent.
|
4.
|
Position the new rubber gaiter correctly and secure it with new
retaining clips.
