Fault diagnosis

Before starting fault diagnosis, observe the following points:

Warning

No tests or connections are to be made on the SRS before the airbags have been disconnected.

Read through the Safety and handling instructions.

Turn off the ignition and remove the negative cable on the battery.

Remove the connector on the back of the driver's airbag and passenger airbag.

Connect reference resistor 84 71 153 to the relevant connector.

When fault diagnosing the seat-belt tensioners, connect the reference resistor 84 71 153 to the respective connector on the seat-belt tensioners.

Also note the following:

Splicing SRS cables is forbidden. Splicing can cause functional disorders that can make the system unusable and in extreme cases lead to personal injury.

If a connector is unplugged while the ignition is switched on it will be recorded as a fault by the control module. The fault will not disappear until the connector is plugged in again and the diagnostic trouble code has been cleared.
