Control module grounding
The control module is grounded to the three retaining screws. Grounding points for other systems must not be connected to the control modules retaining screws or the function of the SRS system can be disturbed and a fault indication received from the control module. Insufficient ground does not generate a diagnostic trouble code. The ground contact being re-established after being broken corresponds to turning the ignition on so the control module restarts its self-test and the SRS lamp comes on for 3-4 seconds. If the ground contact should be broken once again during these 3-4 seconds, this corresponds to turning off the ignition and the lamp goes out. If the ground contact breaks and returns during these 3-4 seconds, it corresponds to the ignition being turned on and off, which will cause the SRS lamp to flicker.
